Year 6 to 7 Transition
Transition to All Saints' Roman Catholic High School
At All Saints’ Roman Catholic High School, we understand that the transition from primary to secondary education is a significant milestone in a young person's life. As a smaller than average Catholic high school in the Rossendale Valley, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all our new pupils.
Preparing for the Transition
Our transition staff, work closely with our feeder primary schools throughout the year to support our incoming Year 7 pupils. This process begins with our Open Evening in the Autumn term, where prospective pupils and their families can learn more about our school and the opportunities we offer.
We then visit each primary school to meet with pupils and staff, discussing individual needs, academic progress, and any other relevant information. This allows us to get to know our new pupils and ensure a seamless transition.
Welcoming Our New Pupils
Once pupils have been allocated a place at All Saints', we invite parents and carers to an information evening, where they can learn more about the support and resources available. In July, all new Year 7 pupils spend a day with us, participating in lessons and getting to know the school environment.
Settling In and Supporting Our Pupils
When our new pupils join us in September, we allocate them to Forms based on the information gathered from primary schools, ensuring a balanced mix. This helps to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where our pupils can thrive.
Your child's Form Tutor will be their key point of contact, providing guidance, support, and a listening ear throughout their time at All Saints'. we believe that effective and open communication between school and home is key to ensuring a smooth transition and a positive start to secondary education. Our mission is to "educate the whole person spiritually, morally, and intellectually," and we strive to embody our Catholic values in all that we do, including welcoming and supporting our new pupils.
Nurturing Individual Potential
At All Saints', we are committed to catering for the individual needs of our pupils. Students will be taught in mixed-ability groups for all lessons, which will be reviewed throughout the course of the year. This allows us to adapt our teaching and support to ensure that each child reaches their full potential, in line with our mission to "educate the whole person spiritually, morally and intellectually."
Our Catholic values of compassion, respect, and justice are woven into every aspect of school life, guiding us in our efforts to prepare our pupils for "responsible participation in society." We believe that by following Christ's teachings, as found in the Gospels, we can help our young people to let their light shine and make a positive impact on the world around them.
We look forward to welcoming your child to our community and supporting them on their educational journey at All Saints' Roman Catholic High School.
