Chaplaincy at All Saints'

Pupil Chaplaincy Team

Chaplaincy is extremely important to our School. We have a dedicated pupil Chaplaincy Team which meets weekly and a Staff Chaplaincy Team which meets a number of times each term. The pupil Chaplaincy team represent our school's faith in action - these are students who are active in our school community, involved in the planning and delivery of assemblies, are in service in school and the local community, and help with fundraising.

Staff Chaplaincy Team

We have established a staff Chaplaincy Team, with the intention of staff being given the opportunity to be part of a Team that lives out their Faith in Action too.
The purpose of the Staff Chaplaincy is to support all the children and adults at All Saints’ who form our school community, through encouragement, friendship and prayer. We encourage our pupils and staff to demonstrate their commitment to their faith in their daily lives: to offer support and friendship to those in need; to be respectful of each other’s feelings; to take an active part in meaningful collective worship. The Staff Chaplaincy team exists to enable the pupils and staff to demonstrate their commitment in their daily lives and to support them in their faith.

The Staff Chaplaincy will meet to discuss and plan events that take place within school, for example, events that will celebrate the upcoming Jubilee Year.

We have approximately 25 pupils in the Pupil Chaplaincy team.
So far, the Chaplaincy team have planned and delivered Welcome Mass, All Saints’ Day Mass and the All Saints’ Day Liturgy. The Chaplaincy team have also planned and delivered the CARITAS Advent appeal assembly to their peers. Some members of the Chaplaincy Team also helped with the Valley Chaplaincy Training day, where All Saints’ hosted the Chaplaincy and GIFT Teams from our feeder Primary schools. As the year moves on, we will be planning for the 2025 Jubilee Launch which is in January.
A number of our group are enrolled on the Faith in Action award at Bronze level which requires 35 hours of service in school and for our local community. One pupil is on the silver award which requires 60 hours of service and leadership. Pupils on the Faith in Action award have to demonstrate service by actively demonstrating faith in action within school and their Parish/ community.
This ‘service’ can be involvement in any club within school and anything in the local community that demonstrates Faith in Action. For example, in school it could be being part of the Chaplaincy Team, or being an Altar Server at school Mass, being part of the choir, or planning and delivering an assembly or helping at Open Evening. In the community, examples can include helping within their Parish or being part of a group that might help out at community events, or fundraising within the community. There are countless examples! Our pupils are logging their hours by being involved in Chaplaincy; raising money for charities, planning and delivering collective worship, taking roles within Masses, leading groups outside of school, e.g. Scouts, leading in assemblies and coordinating fundraising events. At the end of the year pupils will receive a special badge and a certificate.

Caritas Salford ‛Bee There’ Appeal
On 25th November, we launched our Advent Appeal – CARITAS Salford ‘Bee There’ appeal. Tilly Fletcher in Y10 led the assemblies, which she had planned herself as part of her work towards her silver Faith in Action award. All form groups have been given a ‘shopping list’ of items to collect with a deadline of 13th December. These will then be taken to our local CARITAS centre.
The link for the Caritas Advent Appeal 2024 is here, and it contains lots of information on the work of Caritas and how to support the charity.
